Emissions monitoring

We record the emission values from all stacks of our electricity generation infrastructure on a daily basis. Our online continuous emissions monitoring system displays information graphically or in an hourly average interval, up until the previous day.

Continuous monitoring
Automated Measuring Systems (AMS), also known as Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and data acquisition recording systems are used to monitor and log stack emissions from combustion plants at Enemalta plc’s Delimara Power Station. Each chimney is equipped with AMS devices.

Emission related information on this website are updated once every day at approximately 0200hrs.

Discontinuous stack emissions monitoring
Whilst continuous stack emissions monitoring checks for levels of Particulates (Dust), Sulphur dioxide (SO2) and Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx), discontinuous stack emissions monitoring checks for levels of Dioxins and Furans (PCDDs and PCDFs), Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) , and a number of heavy metals. Discontinuous stack emissions monitoring is carried out periodically at specific intervals, in line with our IPPC permits. Analysis of samples taken during the monitoring is carried out by accredited laboratories.
