The installation of a new transformer at M’Scala distribution centre.

22.06.2022

The new transformer for the Marsascala Distribution Center expansion was unloaded and positioned in place following a coordinated effort during the night.

The new 22.5 MVA transformer is presently being configured and tested, prior connecting to the underground cables, under the supervision of Enemalta engineers and technicians. Additional testing on the protection and control systems will be conducted prior the transformer is put in service.

To fulfill the energy demand in Marsascala and the surrounding areas, the Distribution Center will now have three transformers.

Through this investment the energy demand shall be distributed through the three transforms and in the event that one of them fails, the other two transformers will be able to meet the demand thus minimizing the time power interruption time.

Works were carried out at night to minimize traffic inconvenience due to the required road closure.
