Replacement of switchgear at a number of substations

The replacement of existing switchgears forms part of the many initiatives which Enemalta is conducting to strengthen its infrastructure. The transition to modern switchgears will result in increasing substation automation which translates into several advantages for customers, including a more stable electricity supply and reduced outages when a fault occurs.

This proactive work is presently in progress at various substations.

The process entails:

✅ Deployment and installation of temporary switchgear
✅ Structural alternations such as excavations works to house the new equipment
✅ Installation of the modernised switchgear
✅ Testing before connecting the switchgear to the grid
✅ Placing the new switchgear in service.
