25.10.2023

The Board of Directors of Enemalta plc approved the appointment of Ing. Ryan Fava as the Company’s new Executive Chairman.

Ing. Fava, who has been serving as Enemalta’s non-executive Chairman since 2022, will now also be heading the Company’s Board of Management, as it continues the implementation of the national long-term electricity network reinforcement plan.

“Enemalta has a promising future, as we consolidate our electricity infrastructure to support Malta’s decarbonisation objectives,” the new Executive Chairman said, “we have important developments ahead of us, including the introduction of offshore renewables as an important source of clean energy, increased investment in land-based renewables and grid-scale storage systems, new electricity interconnections with other countries and the electrification of vessels at ports and road transport.”

“Enemalta is accelerating the upgrading of our electricity distribution system to prepare for these milestones, and to continue improving the quality of our services. This commitment is the main objective of our Company for the next few years.”

Ing. Fava thanked outgoing Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Cardona for spearheading Enemalta’s operations and infrastructural projects during the last two years. Mr Cardona will be relinquishing his post to embark on a new career opportunity following a handover period in the coming weeks.

An engineer by profession, Ing. Fava completed his studies at the University of Malta and Brunel University London, before serving in different engineering roles within the private sector.
