Freedom of Information Act

Chap. 496 of the Laws of Malta refers to the Freedom of Information Act. This legislation establishes a right to information held by public authorities in order to promote added transparency and accountability, subject to a number of conditions and exclusions.

If your request is refused, or if you are not satisfied with the information provided, you may submit a complaint through the website or by email on If your difficulty is not resolved to your satisfaction, the Freedom of Information Act also empowers you to escalate your request to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner.
