Overall Scope
The Professional Executive Commodity Trading shall be responsible for monitoring and implementing the Company’s commodities hedging strategies, ensuring effective risk management and optimisation of energy market exposure. The Professional Executive Commodity Trading shall assess and analyse generation data and commodities’ market trends to identify trading opportunities.
Position Responsibilities
The Professional Executive Commodity Trading shall be responsible for:
1. Commodities Trading and Hedging
• Negotiate and manage contracts with counterparties.
• Analyze and predict market trends to make informed recommendations to the management.
• Develop and implement effective trading strategies.
• Assess and manage trading risks while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of macroeconomic indicators and their impact on commodity prices.
• Regularly reporting trading activities and performance to the Manager Commodity Hedging & Risk Management.
• Keep updated with international events and changes in trade policies that can affect the commodities market.
2. Commodities Risk Management
• Identify, assess, and analyze potential risks affecting the organization.
• Prepare risk assessments related to commodities trading and hedging, ensuring that exposures are effectively managed and within approved limits.
• Develop and implement effective risk management strategies and frameworks through using analytical tools to monitor exposure, market conditions, and stress testing scenarios.
• Prepare risk reports and present key findings to senior management.
• Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends to proactively manage risks.
3. Generation Data Compilation & Analysis
• Collect, and analyse generation data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
• Design analytical models and tools to derive actionable insights from generation data, enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making.
• Collaborate with energy trading and dispatch operations to ensure data aligns with strategic objectives and operational priorities.
Academic Qualification
A recognised Bachelor’s Degree at MQF Level 6 (subject to a minimum of 180 ECTS/ECVET credits or equivalent) in Management or Finance or Business or Economics or another field as approved by Management.
Skills & Competencies
• Knowledge of energy market forecasting software and risk management systems.
• Advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling, with strong understanding of trading and hedging strategies and risk metrics.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Capacity to anticipate market movements and align strategies to mitigate potential risks.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
Reporting Structure
The Professional Executive Commodity Trading will report to the Manager Commodities Hedging & Risk Management.
