Complex and delicate work at Kirkop DC

29.04.2022

The electrical distribution system offers an ongoing engineering challenges which in some instances this proves to be more difficult than usual.

This engineering feat describes the recent works carried out by Enemalta engineers and technicians at Kirkop Distribution Center.

In a delicate operation the enigeering team had to replace a faulty voltage transformer. Part of this process entailed the removal of SF6 insulator equipment.  The SF6, which is typically used within our installations, is harmful to human especially if the gas gets contaminated or if works are not diligently conducted in line with the necessary health and safety precautions.

During such works, the electricity supply from this Distribution Center, which supplies electricity to thousands of customers in Kirkop, Qrendi, Mqabba and Ħal Safi, was not interrupted.
