Draughtsperson
1. General Duties & Responsibilities
1.1 Shall at all time perform his/her work in accordance and in compliance with existent Health and Safety Legislation, Health & Safety Policies and Environmental Management Polices as may be revised by the Company from time to time;
1.2 Shall be responsible to ensure that all personnel under his/her responsibility work in accordance with the Company’s Health & Safety and Environmental Management Standards and Policies;
1.3 Responsible that all personnel under his/her responsibility are equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the duties being undertaken;
1.4 Ensures that records, drawings, manuals, documentation and any other data of the various proposed and installed infrastructure at the Company are properly and accurately collected, organised and maintained;
1.5 Responsible for the preparation of drawings, estimates of costs and related data to be incorporated in any documentation issued by the Company;
1.6 Collects, measures and records all relevant information required to be able to prepare drawings, records and estimates of cost;
1.7 Carries out general Draughtsperson duties which include printing duties;
1.8 Keeps records and forwards reports relating to personnel, works, materials, tools and equipment on a regular basis as required;
1.9 Carries out on-site works supervision on his/her own initiative and without supervision;
1.10 Drives Company vehicles to and from site of work and keeps assigned vehicle(s) clean. The Draughtsperson is expected to inspect the vehicle(s) assigned to him/her and carry out light maintenance work on such vehicle(s) as required;
1.11 Responsible for the upkeep of vehicles under his/her charge and all materials, tools and equipment issued to him/her;
1.12 Assists site and/or project engineers, contractors and consultants as necessary;
1.13 Takes decisive decisions with contractors on site consistent with his/her authority and to achieve the Company’s objectives in the implementation of such projects;
1.14 Verifies ‘as built’ and ‘as fitted’ drawings;
1.15 Develops new applications and trains others in the use of these applications;
1.16 Carries out other duties as assigned by the Department Responsible Officer, including clerical/office work;
1.17 Attends third party personnel in Company premises and sites of work to inform them about safety hazards;
1.18 Carries out design work consistent with his/her duties;
1.19 Obtains quotations, assists in the preparation of tender documents, evaluates offers and recommends award;
1.20 Attends meetings with clients, contractors, government entities and authorities and presents information on behalf of the Company;
1.21 Measures works carried out and prepares bills of quantity;
1.22 Trains others;
1.23 Filling of forms and collection of drawings and documents for the preparation and submission of forms of application for authorisation and permits by the Company and other entities;
1.24 Performs time and attendance duties as necessary;
1.25 Carries out other post-related duties as assigned by his/her Manager or the assigned delegate.
2. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
2.1 Projects
2.1.1 Responsible to the Divisional Manager or his/her delegated representative;
2.1.2 Identifies and draws requisitions for parts and consumables that need to be used on specific jobs;
2.1.3 Requests quotations and trigger the requisition process necessary to procure items of stock of consumables and parts in accordance with the Company’s policy in those cases where these are not available directly from the Stores.
2.2 Civil
2.2.1 Responsible to Divisional Manager or his/her delegated representative;
2.2.2 Measures works carried out and prepares bills of quantities;
2.2.3 Takes samples from sites of work for testing.
2.3 GIS
2.3.1 Responsible to Divisional Manager or his/her delegated representative;
2.3.2 Catalogue and maintain an inventory of GIS data, including metadata creation;
2.3.3 Perform GIS data quality control, including reviewing data for completeness and accuracy; including identifying and correcting errors or omissions in the data;
2.3.4 Input, update and maintain GIS databases, including backups and also maintaining linkages to other databases;
2.3.5 Perform GIS spatial analyses;
2.3.6 Create map layouts and views and generate maps and reports.
2.4 Quality and Progress Control
2.4.1 Responsible to the Divisional Manager or his/her delegated representative;
2.4.2 Identifies documentation pertaining to particular projects assigned to the Projects Department of the Company;
2.4.3 Collects processes and updates such documentation periodically or as instructed from time to time;
2.4.4 Prepares and presents reports and any other data including charts, maps, etc., periodically or as requested showing the state of play of such projects.
3. Organisational Relationships
3.1 Supervision Received
Responsible to the Department Responsible Officer and liaises as necessary with other departments/sections and other responsible officers.
The Draughtsperson will receive directives from the Department Responsible Officer and/or Section Manager in terms of broad outlines consistent with the stipulated objectives and responsibilities of the post.
3.2 Supervision Given
Any other staff in lower levels working within the Section.
3.3 Authority
The Draughtsperson has the authority to take any responsible decisions or actions consistent with the position objectives and responsibilities and subject to any direction given to him/her by competent authority or designated representative. The Draughtsperson may also be responsible for a project, task or part of the operations of his/her Section, especially with regards to sites of work.
3.4 Accountability
The Draughtsperson shall be accountable for the duties assigned to him/her. The performance and effectiveness of the appointee will be determined by considering the following:
The efficiency and effectiveness in performing his/her duties;
The maintenance and appropriate use of all resources available within the Section for the achievement of his/her daily duties and responsibilities.
4. Working Conditions
Normal working office hours and conditions with a possible requirement to work in unscheduled or crises situations after office hours or on weekends.
5. Qualifications, Work Experience & Skills
5.1 Skills

5.2 Qualifications
5.2.1 The selected person/s must possess certification in AutoCAD as well as be computer literate;
5.2.2 The selected person/s must be in possession of a valid driving licence;
5.2.3 The selected person/s must possess a recognised Diploma at MQF Level 4 (subject to a minimum of 120 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent ) or higher in Engineering Drawing and/or Graphical Communication or any other business-related subject relevant to the operations of the Company and directly related to the functions described in this Job Description.
This clause is applicable only to candidates who do not have the minimum period of related work experience as specified in the below section.
5.3 Work Experience
5.3.1 Preference shall be given to candidates who have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience at:
5.3.1.1 Enemalta plc; or
5.3.1.2 Any Drawing Office within the former Enemalta Corporation and/or Engineering Resources Ltd.
